Shooting Investigation

At approximately 1245 PM, East Palo Alto Police Officers responded to 32 Buchannan Court on a report of shooting. Officer contacted the 27 year old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand. The victim who was later identified as John Petelo an East Palo Alto resident was transported to the Stanford Emergency room for treatment.
The Victim stated two Tongan males in their late teens came to his home looking for his cousin. The Victim stated when he confronted one of the suspects the suspect pointed a handgun directly at his face. Fearing for his life the Victim grabbed the barrel of the gun and a struggle ensued. During the struggle the Victim was shot in the hand. After the shooting the suspects fled the scene and remain outstanding.
